The Bible is composed of 66 books, written by countless authors, across several centuries, and in different countries. It remains a national best seller and has been published in several languages with numerous translations. Yet despite all of those statistics, most people still do not what the Bible is really about. Most people have their favorite story or verse, but they may fail to understand the Bible as a whole. In God's Big Picture, Vaughan Roberts tries to educate Christians and non-Christians about the God's grand design for His people through His Kingdom.
Instead of focusing on one particular passage or verse, Roberts does a comprehensive overview of the Bible illustrating God's Kingdom and how all He wants is His people to dwell in His Kingdom with him under His rule. Roberts begins by breaking the Bible into eight sections that all pertain to God's Kingdom and how he attempted to achieve it, but at every turn man's sin ruined the beauty that God created. However, despite all of man's failures God still loves us enough to send His only son to save us from our sin and give us eternal life with God, all we have to do is believe in him. .
In the beginning when God created the world and placed man in the Garden of Eden, He was very pleased with all that he had done and he rested. Roberts points out that this is probably the most important part of God's creation. Ever since God created the world, He wanted his people to enjoy the rest with him; he wants us to live in a continual Sabbath with Him, that was always God's intent. However once Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Good and Evil and sin entered the world, we have been separated from God's Kingdom and enjoying this eternal rest. Despite the sinful nature of man, God has still tried to bring his kingdom to us. .
After Adam and Eve's sin ruined God's pattern for His Kingdom, the Kingdom became perished and man lived independently from God, they turned away from God and faced his punishment and curses.
