Your term paper must be 10 pages, not including Title and Works Cited pages (about 2,600 words).
You must hand in a typed 1-2 page outline of your paper with your paper. .
You must use Fredrickson and/or Winant to present a THEORY of RACE, i.e., to explain what race is and what it is not, BEFORE you explain how race operates in the nation of your choice. .
You must also reference at least FOUR ACADEMIC sources not used in class. .
You must use APA (American Psychological Association) formatting for your references. .
Things to Avoid .
- Resources - Wikipedia, dictionaries, and encyclopedias are not academic sources and should not be used to define terms.
- Sloppy writing, including poor organization, spelling and grammatical errors. .
- Insufficient references and unorganized reference pages.
Things to Do.
- Insert PAGE NUMBERS. .
- Include SECTION AND PARAGRAPH breaks.
- Base your paper on CONCEPTS FROM CLASS and the READINGS. .
I am available to discuss your papers with you as much as you like upon request. Students who discuss their papers with me generally produce better papers. I do not, however, read and comment on drafts. All students are strongly encouraged to bring their drafts to the FAU Writing Center as poorly written papers receive lower grades. .
Good Papers .
Are focused, examine one issue in-depth. .
