Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead

Over the last couple of years, television has started a bigger driving force in pop culture than ever before. There are two shows that are gaining higher rating than movie or other television show of the past could have ever dreamed of. AMC's "The Walking Dead" " and HBO's "Game of Thrones,"" both draw heavily from their original source of inspiration, but they've handled their subject matter, actor's ability to assume their TV persona, and likelihood of surprising incidents quite differently.
"Game of Thrones"" is set in the land of Westeros, a land with a thousand years of history. For the most part it revolves around the point of view of multiple characters throughout the books. Although the story involves dragon and multiple forms of magic it's tries to de-emphasize magic compared to other epic fantasy works. The story comes from an imaginative realm but the author sees an honest necessity to reflect the real where people die ugly deaths, even beloved characters. In the same vein, "The Walking Dead"" is set in a post-apocalyptic future where police officer Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma and finds his town overrun by walking corpses. As he finds his family and other survivor he leads them through the state of Georgia in order to find a place to settle down and to simply survive for as long as it takes. This has its own consequences, many of Ricks companions die gruesome deaths throughout and explores the idea of what it would be like to live in a world where all you are doing is prolonging your inevitable death. Both show tend to follow the "no one is safe" ideology, both shows kill off important and beloved characters if it will help advance the story where it logically needs to be.
"The Game of Thrones"" is an adaptation from George R. R. Martin's epic fantasy novels, "A Song of Ice and Fire."" It does a very good job of adapting the novel and turning it into an amazing visual feat.
