The Controversy of Bullet Capacity Limits

This was a reform of the previous law limiting the bullets to ten bullets. However, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver argues, "Gun manufactures don't make seven-round magazines and aren't planning to " (Kriss). Many state politicians have been arguing that the laws that Cuomo has been passing is violating the second amendment. A powerful figure in the NRA, Chris Cox says, "Law-abiding citizens have a fundamental right to keep commonly possessed firearms for defense of themselves and their families and for other lawful purposes" (Kriss). Cuomo's decision to further limit bullets, while may be unfavorable, in not unconstitutional in the respect that he is not taking away our guns, only our bullets.
There are many in the government, on multiple sides of the political diamond, whom would enforce and try to pass gun control, yet they are opposed but many others who are against the Government's attempts at gun control. John McCain, a United States Senator, along with many other well-known political figures all argue against any type of gun control; other officials that are against limiting bullet numbers include, Bob Barr, a Liberal and Chuck Baldwin. In an article entitled, "On the Issues: Protecting Second Amendment Rights"," John McCain said: I believe that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that we have a sacred duty to protect. We have a responsibility to ensure that criminals who violate the law are prosecuted to the fullest, rather than restricting the rights of law abiding citizens. Gun control is a proven failure in fighting crime. Law abiding citizens should not be asked to give up their rights because of criminals - criminals who ignore gun control laws anyway.
I believe that banning ammunition is just another way to undermine Second Amendment rights. I voted against an amendment that would have banned many of the most commonly used hunting cartridges on the spurious grounds that they were armor-piercing.
