My little home is probably the oldest house on my street. It was built in the late 1930's and still has much of its original trappings and architecture intact. My little home is white with green trim and has a beautifully paved driveway, which stretches from the street all the way into the backyard. There used to be a lovely matching white and green two car garage in the backyard of my little home, which not only complimented but also completed the beauty and elegant style of my home, but it has over the years deteriorated and was torn down as an eyesore. .
The little home and the property itself belonged to my grandfather Abraham Brown a decorated WWII veteran, and was later passed down to my father upon the death of my grandfather who willed it to me upon his passing. It sat for years in disrepair with its windows busted out, plumbing, electrical wiring and internal fixtures being stripped by neighborhood "scavengers!" When you first entered the my little house you could see the devastation and destruction caused by neighborhood thieves and scavengers, holes in the plaster walls the water damage done to the roof and interior ceilings! .
Can you imagine thinking to yourself is there any way that I can take this old eyesore and raggedy house can be made a humble home again as was in the time of my grandfather. I could remember as a child playing on the porch waiting the ice cream truck to come down the street so that I could run and get my grandfather to get us some ice cream, and then running into the backyard which was well kept and the yard was painstakingly tended too with a nice rich green tint to it which made it look even more attractive! In those days I used to love to go into the basement which was a finished room and run around and play with my friends, but now I can barely even recognize the basement as it has suffered so much water damage and is such a state of virtual disrepair it does not resemble what it looked like in days long past.
