Adolescence and the Common Identity Crisis

Adolescence is a transitional stage of physical and psychological human development, occurring during the period from puberty to legal adulthood. This is the time where most individuals mature, plan their future, and become the person that they are. The teenage years have a lot of things packed into them; the onslaught of puberty, becoming more mature, making new and immediate decisions and deciding what type of person he/she would like to become. .
Many teenagers hope to become well rounded people, succeeding in life and facing as few troubles as possible. But reality is, somewhere along the way, major life turbulence will strike. Major factors that impact one's identity could be their childhood, what environment they have or do put themselves in, and how they socialize. These three have the greatest impact on a teen's identity because it is something they are exposed to all the time. Think of the biggest things that have impacted who you are today; guaranteed one of those three are in your list.
Your identity starts from when you are born. Everything you learn and pick up from when you are born to when you become a teenager already starts to shape and mold your identity. How you were brought up and how your parents treated you shapes your identity. The culture you are brought into without a choice shapes who you become depending on whether or not you believe or agree with the customs, values and traditions. What you are taught is right and what you are taught is wrong will greatly impact your identity. For example, if one is taught it is okay to be late, then they will go ahead and do it, no matter what the consequences due to the fact that they think it is right and okay.
Another factor that deals with childhood is life experiences. What someone goes through, or has to deal with greatly impacts who they become. Someone with depression is going to be completely different then someone who has a positive attitude most of the time.
