Academics and Preparing for College

Not to mention create job opportunities for people looking to help educate others. I strongly believe this new Law will help students get farther in their college career. .
As a college student currently enrolled in a remedial course in a Connecticut Community College, I can see why this topic would be controversial to our community. After graduating High school 6 years ago, I chose not to go to college. I was determined to return to school this year to better myself. I do enjoy the option of having the remedial courses offered to me to refresh my brain on certain subjects, although I have found going over certain material has made me de-motivated. I am not intrigued as much as I would be if I were learning a new topic for the first time. The remedial classes are also not good towards any credit. If I didn't have to worry about wasting a year on classes that my teachers should have covered in high school I could start fresh in all college courses. .
Another thing taken into consideration, is the money I'm spending on tuition. "The cost per student runs to as much as $2,000 per student in community colleges and $2,500 in four-year universities "(Bloomberg). I have spent over two thousand dollars in one semester only in three classes, two of which are remedial. I could have used this money towards college credit courses to get a head start on my college level classes. "An advantage of PA-12 is, if you're borrowing money or spending your hard-earned money, it's not being borrowed or spent for classes that are not working toward a degree" (MacMillan). .
Consequently, Time is also another factor in remedial courses, when I signed up for a two year college no one had told me it could take longer to complete based on my Accuplacer scores. Thinking I could complete school in two years was one thing, but now an advisor told me it could take up to three and half years. If I knew this in the beginning I would have just went to a four-year school.
