The skills associated with making it to states are: listening to and implementing directions from my coach, being motivated so succeed, and being mentally strong enough to fight through the pains. Those skills also play a part in me making the top ten list. Skills and values that played a part in me graduating and getting into college are: being a hard worker, wanting more for my life, managing school, track, work and also being mentally capable to earn good grades.
After completing the values appraisal exercise I was not surprise by the results. I've always valued family before anything. Being financially comfortable is the second most important thing to me just for the simple fact that I grew up with mom having to live from pay check to pay check and that's not the life I want for myself. A close third on the appraisal exercise is creativity for which I don't notice but I guess I have to pay closer attention to what I do. One of my biggest faults in life is not being a social person, which is evident on the chart. Being social is one skill that will help in my job search. Five skills I believe I excel at are: self-awareness, receiving criticism gracefully, multi-tasking, adaptability, and the ability to use information technology well. Five skills I need to improve at are: conversational skills, listening skills, planning, thinking carefully, and confidence. One way I can improve on my conversational skill is to be more assertive. I tend to be timid and keep to myself a lot, which is slowly changing. I have to also become a better listener and that starts by not zoning out when someone is speaking to me. I believe that all this starts with me being more confident.
Section 3: Career Choice and Lifestyle.
