Most college students believe that at this stage in their life everything is going to go the way they expect it to but I don't feel that way. I'm in my senior year right now getting ready to graduate in 7 months and I am lost and terrified for what's to come post graduation. Before this assignment I would stress on what's going to happen career-wise after I graduate and to be honest, I'm still stressing. I believe that after completing this assignment I will have a better understanding as to which direction I want my career to go.
Section 1: Communication Skills Assessment.
Overall my communication skill needs work. When it comes to my non-verbal skills like: handshakes, eye contact, and my facial expression. I've worked on it to the point that it is sufficient; that's not to say that I wont continue to keep improving on it. Another skill that I adequately posses would be the ability to receive criticism gracefully in fact I encourage it. When it comes to the other communication skills in the assessment they need improvement. My confidence and taking the initiative to introduce myself to people needs work. I need to understand that not everyone is going to introduce me to people that I haven't met. Most times you need to take it upon yourself and be confident enough to introduce myself. Another flaw that I posses in this assessment is good listening skills. When it comes to listening to directions or stories I catch myself zoning out and having to ask for clarification. I need to find ways to improve on that. The most important of my communication skill I believe I have to work on would have to be my conversational skills. I'm not a person that always complaining or exuding a negative energy; on the other hand I'm not an upbeat or positive person.
Section 2: Achievements, Skills, and Values.
Four achievements that I've accomplished throughout my life so far are: going to states in Track & Fields my junior and senior year in high school, finishing second all time on my high school top ten list for long jump, graduating high school, and getting accepted into a University.
