Over the years, there have been countless philosophers and scientists - as well as billions of everyday people - believing in a higher power and questioning how the world came to be. There are numerous ideas on how the world has become what it is today, but the two prevailing theories are evolution and creation. Supporters of creation and evolutionists both agree at the most basic level that the earth went from virtually nothing to what it is today, but they agree on little more than that. The major disagreement lies in how it was created. Creationists would argue that the earth was created by the God of the Bible. Evolutionists believe that the world was created by the "Big Bang " (These will be discussed further in the body of the paper). As a result of these two different beliefs, our cultures have been shaped and are continuing to be shaped based on what we believe about our origins. .
This paper will focus on comparing and contrasting the two competing views on our origins and how they have shaped our mindsets in regards to morality and value of life, and the purpose in life. Also, a case will be made as to why the creation mindset is superior to evolution mindset in all areas. .
I. Compare and contrast of the two mindsets.
a. THE EVOLUTIONIST BELIEFS.
The Big Bang Theory advocates that the universe today, was once merely a single atom of enormous energy billions of years ago. After the huge explosion, individual atoms and molecules bonded together to eventually form the earth and all the life that roams its lands. It took a process of many long years for single-celled organisms to form the complex structures of mountains, plants and animals that we see today. .
This statement sums up the evolutionists point of view on how everything has come into being. They believe that evolution is the result of random events like genetics, mutations, deletions, duplications, etc. that are acted upon through the process of natural selection.
