The large inflow of Latinos, combined with growth in the U. native-born Hispanic population, have considerably altered the demographic structure of the country in this last century. The 2010 Census accounted for more than half of the nation's population growth in the previous decade. In those 10 years, the U.S. Hispanic population surged 43 percent to reach 50.5 million. In this nation, Hispanics make up nearly 17 percent of the populace, and at this time we have 11 million undocumented illegal immigrants in America.
Representative Steve King says it's not good to build our immigration system because it will cause these citizens to vote. He states the only motive to reform this system it to pick up the greater percentage of Hispanic vote. He goes on the further state, "If you legalize people that are here illegally that means it is a path to citizenship, eventually those folks who are rewarded with the objective of their crime will be voting, they will have the measure of citizenship. There is nothing in this for republicans, independents, Americans and it isn't good for the American people, the only thing it will be good for democrats. We have no moral obligation to bring these people out of the shadows, we let them come here for what they came for which is to live in the shadows, if they want citizenship then they should go back to their own countries." ".
The reason so many men, women and children immigrate to America is the desire to to obtain citizenship and begin happy and financially stable lives. I think it's fascinating how America can give illegal immigrants the chance to earn a degree, and teach them skills, then turn around and tell them they need to apply these skills in a different country other than ours. It's not right because like Obama says "we could be building new industries in America but we choose to give these new industries to our competitors ", not to mention they should be able to do it if they've shown they have the skills to do what it takes.
