However, Jung believed this was too simple of an explanation so he continued to study personality types. As Jung worked, he came up with a more complex framework for human personality differences. Jung has called his study psychological types (Kaufmann, 1992).
Respectful Consideration as a Team.
In the Myers-Briggs framework psychological type helps individuals understand their own personalities but also helps recognize others are different as well. While used in organizations, where encouragement and mutual respect is not an option. Appreciating the contributions of others, all personality types handle situations different, but in healthy ways. In a more productive way individuals can work together and collaborate within team settings. Within a team there must be respect, trust, and cooperation with the individuals within the team. When making decisions and sharing responsibilities individuals also share the consequences, this makes room for growth in social interests (Ferguson, 1984).
When people understand personalities and have the framework or the knowledge of personalities it makes being around different people not so annoying or bother you. People do not see the same picture and individuals need to know how to accept them for who they are. Researcher Dreikurs stated, "Cooperation has to be won-it cannot be demanded; and the best way to gain cooperation is to talk freely about what each one thinks and feels and to explore together better ways of dealing with each other."" (Dreikurs & Soltz, 1964) .
There are several reasons the MBTI instrument is used. The MBTI is a positive nonthreatening framework for understanding behaviors; this could include both simple and complex aspects. There are hundreds of research studies that have been done on the MBTI. The MBTI has been used successfully across the globe. The MBTI is a tool used for personality differences. People need to be aware and be able to recognize each other's unique styles.
