The Once and Future King by T.H. White

In Book One of "The Once and Future King," by T. White, the reader is introduced to Wart, a foster child who is left in the care of Sir Ector. Kay, Ector's son, is being trained in the ways of knighthood to one day take over his father's throne. Wart finds many ways to keep him entertained as Kay is trained. Wart came across an old magician by the name of Merlyn who has proclaimed himself as Wart's tutor/mentor. .
Over the next few years Merlyn instills his wisdom into Wart by turning him into different animals. The day came that Kay was knighted and Wart then became his Squire, tending and accompanying Key in his journeys. When the king of England dies there is no heir left to the throne and a quest is set out to find one man who can pull a sword out of a stone, whoever does so is said to be the next king. Kay and Wart arrive at London and one evening, while Wart is out finishing his duties for Kay, he decides to attempt to pull the sword out of the stone, and succeeds. .
The second book "The Queen of Air and Darkness" we find King Author – Wart – fighting to save his power against his biggest enemy King Lot. While the war continues Lot's sons are in a battle of their own competing for the affection of their mother Morgause, who is also King Author's half-sister which he does not know. Author, with the help of Merlyn, figures out that with his own strength and those of his men they can defeat Lot's army by defending and fighting for the good of the people. He called his knights the "Knights of the Round Table" and with the help of Bor and Ban, two French kings, Author successfully defeats Lot. After the battle, Morgause travels to Authors court and uses her powers to seduce Author. Author, still not knowing she is his half-sister, still committed a great sin of incest with Morgause. .
The last two books "The Ill- Made Knight" and "The candle in the wind are where things get interesting.
