The Student Voucher Debate

If the only other option available is that of a private school, then the funding from the government for the child should be transferred to the school of choice, even if that choice is a private school. .
Another argument for student vouchers is that competition between schools should increase greater efficiency and results in all schools. Unfortunately, some schools have gotten stuck in a rut and have coasted along, for too long, with no level of accountability. Student vouchers would be a huge incentive to improve the school system. Competition between businesses is what creates success. One example of this is the auto industry. One maker is constantly trying to out-do the others, proving their product is the best. Why can't schools take that same mentality? Schools should want to strive to prepare their students for the ever-changing world that awaits them, and avoid loss of funding to better schools. If all schools took this mentality, then they would all be improving on a continual basis.
A third argument as a proponent of student vouchers is that those parents who do send their kids to private school must in effect pay twice. Their taxes already pay for a public education system in which their child is not a part, and then they pay for the private school tuition where their child attends. In effect, they are paying twice for their child's education. Other proponents for student vouchers include the issue of private schools having a stronger system in place to teach morals and values than that of the public schools. Others have said that providing private school access to everyone will increase diversity, while some say that the parent is making the choice between religious or non-religious schooling, so the government is not imposing religion to those parents who chose a religious private school for their child.
             Arguments Against Student Vouchers.
Opponents to student vouchers believe that vouchers take funds away from already under-funded public schools.
