The Beatles.
The story of the Beatles began in 1956, a period when the city of Liverpool, England had been hit by a craze of skiffle music. Skiffle is a genre of music close to jazz, which was produced by a combination of rudimentary instruments such as guitars, packing case single string bass and washboards. This was the brand of music that influenced the Beatles. The band began as a small group of musicians, known as the Quarrymen, marshaled by John Lennon and his childhood friend, Pete Shotton. At one of their concerts, a young man, Paul McCartney, was given the chance to impress John, and he did not disappoint (Everett 24). In fact, he incorporated into the group. John and Paul started writing songs together and played them to small audiences in the streets of Liverpool. Paul's journey to music was without the blessing of his parents and family, who were opposed to the path he had chosen to take (Everett 22).
A short while later, the Quarrymen met up with George Harrison, who had been encouraged all his life to be a musician by his mother. He joined the band, but as fate would have it, it broke up not long after he had joined. The Quarrymen was reformed in 1960 by John, Paul and George, incorporating drummer Peter Best and bass guitarist, Stuart Sutcliff, as "Long John and the Silver Beatles" ", later renamed "The Silver Beatles"", before they settled for a much simpler name, "The Beatles ".
