I attended a classical musical concert performed by pianist Christine Whelchel and presented by the Columbia State Lyceum and Department of Music. The concert was held in the Cherry Theater at Columbia State Community College. The building looked like a normal academic building. The audience was dressed very causally and it consisted of mostly students. I had the opportunity to hear a few beautiful piano pieces performed by a very talented pianist. My favorite three of her performances were Dreaming, op. 15, no. 3 by Amy Beach, Children's Corner Suite, Movement 6: Golliwog's Cakewalk by Claude Debussy, and Intermezzo, op. 116, no.4 by Johannes Brahms. This was the first classical concert I have attended, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. .
Musical Selection #1: Dreaming, op. 15, no. 3 by Amy Beach.
Musical element #1: Rhythm: The tempo was predominantly fast. There were a couple of slow parts but most of it was fast. I normally like slower tempos but I really enjoyed this movement.
Musical element #2: Dynamics: Varied dynamics. When the tempo got faster the dynamics would get forte (loud). When it was at a slow part in the piece the dynamics would be piano (soft).
Musical element #3: Harmony: Predominantly consonant. Even though there was varied dynamics and a fast tempo, the harmony was predominantly consonant, because of how smoothly it all fell together.
Summarizing Statements: The first musical selection really showcased the talent of the pianist. Some parts sounded complicated to play. It sounded like there was more than one piano playing at some points. This selection was very entertaining.

Musical element #1: Rhythm: Frequent tempo changes. The piece kept slowing down and speeding up. The piece was filled with syncopation. .
