The Problem of Sin

So, the question is, "What is sin?". I believe that sin is anything that goes against what God says in his word, the Bible. Also I believe that going against personal convictions is sin, as long as those convictions agree with what the Bible says. For example, if a woman feels that she should wear a dress to church, and then goes against her convictions and wears pants, then she is sinning. Furthermore if something is done that will bring someone else down, then it is sin, even if it doesn't go against one's personal convictions. In Romans 14:14-15 it says, "As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself, but if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died." So not only is sin anything that goes against God, but also there is no value on sin. If a person goes out and robs a bank, and another person tells a "little white lie", in God's eyes, one sin is just as bad as the other. It is man that put a value on sin.
             .
To be conceived in sin means that from the very second a person is conceived, they already have a sin nature, even though they have not actually sinned. Psalm 51 verse 5 says, "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." Also in Psalm 58:3 it says, "Even from birth, the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies." Because of mans sin nature, not even the smallest, precious baby is innocent.
A person can be cleansed from sin if and only if he is a Christian. First, he must realize that he is a sinner. Secondly, he must believe that Jesus died on the cross for his sins and rose again so that he can go to Heaven. In order to be cleansed from sins however, a person must repent and ask for forgiveness for his sins. In First John 1:9 it says, " IF we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to purify us from all unrighteousness.
