In the movie "The Spitfire Grill"", the main character, Percy, wants to begin a new life after she comes out from jail, and the little town of Gilead in Maine becomes her second chance. Sometimes, a second chance is not only for those people who made mistakes, but also for the ones who want to change themselves. For example, in the movie, Shelby's husband thinks she is a stupid and useless woman. However, at the end she begins to speak her opinion and becomes more independent. .
A second opportunity helps a person to start a new life because it rebuilds a person's value, makes one gives up his or her personal shortcomings and put down a sad past. If a person wants to start a new life, he or she needs a suitable place or a helpful person to rebuild his or her values. Percy Talbot goes to Gilead in order to find a new direction for her life after being in jail for five years. The local sheriff asks the owner of The Spitfire Grill, Hannah, to hire Percy so she can have a place to stay. Although Percy does not hide her past from the local residents, they are curious about this new girl. Percy works hard in the restaurant because this place is her second opportunity to begin a new life. After Hannah breaks her leg, Percy has to run the restaurant. That is a chance that Hannah gives her. Percy is a critical cook, but, fortunately, she gets help from Shelby, who is Hannah's cousin's wife. She takes Percy to a church and tells her that this is her secret place to reflection. Also, Joe is another person that becomes Percy's friend. He is an attractive man and wants to marry Percy.
