Is what the government doing right? Carl Marx and other philosopher's who believe in the conflict theory would believe that the Zimbabwean government, led by President Robert Mugabe, has every right to confiscate the massive land and crops owned by the white-minority groups. Looking back into the history of this conflict, one must understand that several years ago, the white settlers came in and took this rich farming land from the natives, leaving them with nothing. Although the land was going to be used to provide cash crops to finance the country, it was still acquired unfairly. Marx and other conflict theorist would therefore be on the government's side, with the justification of equality among the blacks and the whites. Conflict theorists would view this as a racial fight, seeing that the blacks are being discriminated against. In theory it should not matter what color yours skin is, as to whether or not you can own land. They would also detect as since of the issue of social class. In Zimbabwe the white class has high social standing, and even if you take this land away and give it back to the natives, they will still have means to survive. This is due to that fact that the white-minority groups have the military power which often means that they have money. Conflict theorist would agree with the probably agree with the governments action, although it can not be denied that they probably believe there are a little bit better ways to solve this problem.
Through this idea of land confiscation from white-minority groups, conflict theorist would agree that eventually the average Zimbabwean will benefit. It would be a common belief that by putting this land back into the hands of the blacks, there would then be more jobs and money going to the natives of Zimbabwe. Who is losing out?.
On the other side of this spectrum are the views of the functionalist group, which completely differ.
