I have often asked myself what kind of valuable bequest or inheritance I can leave my children, family, and friends. I feel that it is very important to leave some type of legacy behind, so that they will always have something personal and useful to remember me by. Education and life lessons I feel are sometimes more beneficial than money. I would like to leave behind the lesson of how important it is to obtain academic success. Even at the age of forty four, I have made several attempts to go back to school and complete my degree, so that I could financially better myself and my family. I was unable to succeed at my previous attempts, because my children were very young, which made it difficult for me to study. My goal is to leave behind the legacy that I believed I was never too old to learn, never to old to allow anyone to say I can't, and to instill a quality of humanitarianism in them.
Since I graduated from high school, I have been back to school three times. First, I went back to school to study business management, and was unable to continue due to my oldest son becoming ill. This situation required too much of my time. A few years later, I decided to make another attempt, and I enrolled in a community college to study nursing. Once again I was faced with another obstacle. I now had 2 children, with one of them being a newborn. Due to the time I needed to dedicate to the both of them, I decided it was best to withdraw before I got too far into the course. At what I thought would be my final attempt to go back to college, I chose to enroll in an online Medical Billing and Coding program. I did not last one week in this course, and again had to drop the course. This time it was because I no longer had anyone to babysit my children for me while I studied. Here I am today, back in school making another attempt to obtain my Associate of Applied Science degree. This demonstrates my determination to never give up on reaching my academic success.
