It sounded like a dream come true. Not only has Ireland been one of the very few places I've planned to travel to at least once in my life, but the program and school itself offers an education in fields I have been passionate about since I was a little kid. I felt like this program would help me solidify a career in media as something that is truly going to make me happy in my life.

When I was applying for colleges, I didn't have the resources or information I needed to find schools that would be more suited for me in this field. In addition, I didn't know how I could turn something I loved so much into a career. It didn't feel like work for me, so it almost scared me to think that I could actually make a career out of something's enjoyed so much. I felt like people might judge me if I followed an interest like that. Not that anyone else's opinions should matter, but it was high school. Everyone's opinion seemed to matter then. Now, I think completely different. My happiness and success is my only priority at the moment, so I know that I am making a clear choice. I am confident that NMTC and the experience that will come from being there will allow me to explore myself and develop as a professional in a field I love. I will have the opportunity to venture outside the confines of my own security. This will allow me to gain the new perspectives that I feel like I have been so longing to find and which are so crucial to the field of media. After all, the purpose of media is to appeal to as many perspectives as one can.

Working abroad will allow me to break my routine. I feel like traveling reiterates that life is about being able to let go of certain things and welcome in new things. It will show me that, despite what I may have thought two years ago in high school, that there is a bigger world out there than the seven mile stretch of sand I grew up on. It will give me the chance to meet and befriend new people that I would never have the chance to without an opportunity like this.
