Education and the Happy Life

We went to school every day since we were six years old. We learned things which we do not really want to learn through boring classes. Our parents told us that we must do well in school, and then we will have a good life in future. That is the only way to change people's lives if they do not want to live in the lower class. Therefore, we carried a heavy burden when we were in the classroom. We have been told happiness is waiting for you if you listening to them, however, happiness is far away from us. .
             .
Some people may ask, "How do you know happiness is far away from us?" Nicholas D. Kristof's, "The Happiest People" shows us the ""Happy Planet Index" (HPI) devised by the New Economics Foundation, a liberal think tank." In 74 place of 143 nations surveyed, Costa Rica had the "highest life satisfaction" in the world, and America came in at 114th. But what's the HPI? The HPI measures how much of the Earth's resources nations use and how long and happy a life their citizens enjoy as a result. It is better than measuring of economic growth of countries. .
             .
What is the point if you have lot money but you still not happy? Saamah Abdallah, a New Economics Foundation researcher and the report's lead author, says, "The HPI suggests that the path we have been following is, without exception, unable to deliver all three goals: high life satisfaction, high life expectancy and 'one-planet living'," and "Instead we need a new development model that delivers good lives that don't cost the Earth for all"(Abdallah). We all cost too much of our natural environment to develop our economy. It brings a vicious circle which decreased our happiness when our economy increased. We should work on a way of sustainable development. Unfortunately, many countries are developing their economy at the cost of natural environment, such as China, Indian, and Unite States. These are all fast growing economy countries, but how about their HPI? "[T]hey were all greener and happier 20 years ago than they are today" (Kristof).
