The photos of Mel Gibson and girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva on their lovers' getaway in Costa Rica never hinted that trouble was brewing in paradise. However, looking back, this relationship was doomed for scandal from the beginning as Mel was still married at the time of the pictures. Shortly after the pictures emerged, his wife, Robyn Moore, filed for divorce. With her out of the way, Mel and Oksana were free to continue their relationship, but on July 5th things quickly went sour when Oksana filed a complaint with law enforcement claiming Mel was guilty of domestic violence. .
As a result of this complaint, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is investigating domestic charges as well as additional criminal charges due to the two death threats from Mel that can clearly be heard on the tapes (RadarOnline). Mel became so enraged at one point in the argument that he dealt the first supposed death threat, "You need a f*****g bat in the side of the head" (RadarOnline). Later on, Mel made the second death threat, saying, "I'll put you in a f*****g rose garden you c**t! You understand that? Because I'm capable of it" (RadarOnline). Mel further incriminated himself when he essentially admitted to punching Oksana in the face. After Oksana asked, "What kind of a man is that? Hitting a woman when she's holding a child in her hands? Breaking her teeth twice in the face! What kind of man is that?" (RadarOnline). Mel answered, "Oh, you're all angry now! You know what, you f*****g deserved it!" (RadarOnline). No photos have surfaced yet, but according to RadarOnline, a close source says Oksana does have pictures of the injuries Mel inflicted upon her and is prepared to use them in court. Mel's lawyers remain adamant that Oksana is exaggerating her injuries (RadarOnline). .
The couple's relationship had been dwindling for some time, but the last straw came when Oksana refused to allow Mel to see their 8-month old daughter, Lucia, on Father's Day.
