Hope -- it's something that is hard to define, and in this economic climate, hard to come by. hope for? The end of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? An economy that isn't crashing and taking the middle class with it? Universal Health Care? .
There are so many things wrong in this country, that it's hard to know what to be most angry about. Barack Obama ran on change. He promised us a better America. What exactly will he do to fulfill that promise?.
Certainly, he has already changed this country just by being elected. He changed presidential politics by defeating two of the most powerful members of the Senate to do so. He has changed this country by crossing the aisle to nominate Republicans to his cabinet. He has changed this country by making Hillary Clinton his Secretary of State.
His Change.gov website has changed this country by giving a voice to all people, not just the influence peddlers in Washington. Not since Bill Clinton's open line to the White House have we been able to so easily communicate our wants and needs to Pennsylvania Avenue.
What future changes are in store? Undoubtedly, it will be hard to make any sweeping changes with the economy in free fall, but there are changes he could bring about that would benefit everyone.
Barack Obama will make us calm. By being as calm as he is, he will bring us a sense of peace, even in the midst of the chaos that swirls around us.
Barack Obama will make us want to be better people. In listening to his speech to the black youth of America, you can see that he wants more for us, no matter what our race. He wants us to believe in ourselves, to strive for loftier goals, and not define ourselves by our financial status in life.
Barack Obama will make us fight for what is right. He is going to need a lot of help enacting the changes that are necessary in this country, and he will rally our citizens together to see that it gets done.
Barack Obama will bring us true leadership, not just lies and deceptions.
