Coaching Theory

It is also a duty of mine to attempt to improve the strengths of each player. I am not a firm believer in changing someone's whole style of hitting around like some baseball coaches. I will adjust hitter's swings as I see fit, but I feel that the hitter needs to be comfortable in what he is doing in the box. Baseball is a game of adjustments, and that is where I will help the players throughout the year in game and practice situations. .
I would consider myself a very aggressive coach and will preach smart' aggression to the kids in baseball and in anything they want to be a part of. The team will be fundamentally sound because of the intense workout they will get in practice. This will allow for me to coach very aggressively. Such things as bunting for a hit, stealing bases, hit and runs, suicide squeezes, and aggressiveness at the plate when the count is in the favor will be discussed and practiced. My philosophy is to get at least one run per inning and I will coach for a run an inning. I strongly feel that if a team has that mindset, they will get on base and do the little things that need to get that run across in each inning. In turn, if they are doing that, there will be big innings. In a 7 inning game, that means our team will get at least 7 runs, if not more. If our pitching and defense cannot hold the other team to less than that, we do not deserve to win that game. .
Overall, I intend to coach these kids with all that I have and to have an impact on each of them individually and as a team. The team will become a family. My goal is to shape these kids into winners that will affect society for the better. Coaches can have a huge influence on kids' lives and I intend on being a part of their life as a coach and a friend for a long time. In my experiences with coaches, I have learned many things from them. They always say, "If you want anything, come to me."" Yet, they never helped.
