He has been a very successful coach in his day. My plan of making sure everyone is on the same page is a new idea that I think would be very beneficial to everyone on the team. I plan to have weekly meetings with each player individually during the season. In this meeting, I will ask them to honestly evaluate their work ethic in practice, in games, in the classroom, and activities outside of school. Then, I will have the chance to evaluate their progress and work ethic the past week. I believe that the kids will eventually like this system. They might not at first, but it will become popular with them. This new technique will help them understand what I expect from each person and will help them to develop physically, socially, and psychologically. The system will challenge the players without them even knowing it. It will allow each kid to be able to tell me what is going on in their life and to let them know that I care about each aspect of their life. I believe this will help each person give the team everything they can because they will all be in the same mental frame of mind. The reason I think this will be successful is because in baseball each player needs to know their role to be successful. I had a coach who really did not communicate that well with us in high school. Very few of us knew what he wanted from us and where we could contribute to the team. This is so important for a successful baseball team. .
The three main objectives in which I will focus are to win, to have fun, and to develop the players for the next level of their life, whether it is baseball, college, or a career. Through my cooperative style of coaching, I will succeed in all of these areas with the help of my players. My primary job is to motivate the players and to put them in the right mental state of mind to be successful. Also, I am to teach them skills that they are lacking or that they have never been taught before.
