What can we really do about it? Maybe this is what makes death so difficult for people to deal with, or talk about. It's something nobody wants to happen but they can't stop it, so what's to talk about? Yet, from God's perspective, knowledge of our coming death makes perfect sense. If we were given spiritual natures so that we can join God after this physical life, then there is a good reason to be aware of our death. If how we use our free will and our gifts of awareness is the determining factor in what happens to us after this life, then knowledge of our death is not only meaningful, but it is now the most important reference point of our existence. .
Eternity.
Let's take this death thing a step further. In addition to being aware of our mortality, we are also aware of eternity. If evolution gave us these things, it was a mean trick. For we cannot do anything about dying and we can't ever have eternity. But how many of us would like to live forever? Everyone does, even though we can't truly comprehend "eternity." If there is no such thing as eternity for us, then how could we evolve to desire such an absurd impossibility? Yet, from God's perspective, it makes perfect sense. God is offering us this very thing, so of course we would be aware of it. Bingo. .
Perfection.
I mentioned "perfection" earlier. Does anyone know any perfect people? No? Will any of us ever become perfect? No?. Then why are we aware of something that is impossible for us? Worse, why does everyone want to achieve something we know to be impossible? No wonder so many people feel under too much pressure, have ulcers, heart attacks and mental breakdowns. Is this another bad trick evolution has played on us, or are we focused on the wrong reasons for knowing these things? .
The answer is once again simple when we realize we are made in God's image and likeness. God is perfect (which is another name for "holy"= whole/perfect) and our awareness of this draws us to Him.
