Nebuchadnezzar

Nebuchadnezzar was a great ruler of his time as well as in all of history. During his reign as king of the great city Babylon he succeeded in many great accomplishments. Truly this is a man who earned his reputation as a great ruler and a great king. His time here on Earth was far too amazing to describe. I hope to touch on some important areas so that you to may share my opinion of this great person. Included are: Facts about his family, conquests during his reign, some of his great accomplishments, his relations with the Christian religion, along with other miscellaneous interesting facts of his life.
Not only was Nebuchadnezzar an interesting character but also were many of his relatives. Nebuchadnezzar was the eldest son of the King Nabopolassar. Nabopolassar was the founder of the Chaldean Empire and ruled from the year 625 B.C. to the year 605 B.C. when young Nebbuchadnezzar succeeded him on the day of precisely September the seventh, the nineteenth reigning year of Nabopolassar. Nebuchadnezzar married Amyitis whom was the daughter of the Medes King Cyaxares. Their marriage resulted in the alliance between their two dynasties being the Neo-Babylonian (Neb's) and the Median (Amy's). Nebuchadnezzar's rightful heir was Son-Amel Marduk. Marduk was considered an evil man and succeeded his father in 562 B.C. reigning for two short years before being murdered. Marduk was killed by his power hungry brother-in-law Neriglissar. Neriglissar slayed Nebuchadnezzar's real son in 564 B.C. in order to take the throne for himself.
Nebuchadnezzar had many great conquests. He ruled from 605 B.C. to 562 B.C. and from day one he was a proficient ruler. This is seen in his first battle when his ailing father had to stay behind and put Nebuchadnezzar in charge of the Battle at Carchemis during that spring day by the Upper Euphrates. Little did this young man of the age twenty-five know that this first heroic victory would lead to a significant reign as the ruler of his father's people, bringing his dynasty to it's height and Carchemis was merely the beginning.
