Nothing Admirable Emerges from War

Wilfred Owen's powerful poem "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" meaning "It is sweet and fitting to die for one's country", only gives us one side to the view of war. .
In the text, Men Who March Away, there are contained on each page different views on world war one. In some of these touching poems, there is death, destruction and general futility which were some of the negative sides of the conflict.
Yet, in other poems, there are examples of heroism, a sense of victory and other positive outcomes to the war.
So, in light of the above evidence, the statement "Nothing admirable emerges from war" is only partly accurate.
It was evident in the poems and other information that WW1 was remembered for the useless loss of so many lives. Take the poem The Death-Bed; there are many lines in this poem that tell us about death in the war.
"Gently and slowly washing life away",.
This line makes it sound like a man is slowly dying in pain or the line.
"Lipped by the inward, moonless waves of death" is another example of death and war.
In addition, war had its own set rules, where it was kill or be killed. These rules and many others made the men in the war not feel so bad when they killed another human being because to them the enemy weren't human, they were animals or a threat, worthless animals that were taking over people's land, this is supported in the poem The Immortals by Isaac Rosenburg, the 4 lines that make the enemy seem like animals or devils are:-.
"I killed and killed with slaughter mad;.
I killed till all my strength was gone.
And still they rose to torture me.
For devils only die for fun".
Finally, this war that was meant to "end all wars" was clearly a waste of man power, resources, and led to much physical and mental damage. "Disabled" tells about the physical and mental damage that happen to many people in the war. "Now, he will spend a few sick years in institutes", or.
"Passed from him to the strong men that were whole".
