             For me, the purpose of this term paper was to find out more about Fibromyalgia and to find out if chiropractic really is something that could help the patients that are diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
             Methods:.
             My first step when I decided to write this paper about Fibromyalgia was to find out what the word really means. As we break the word apart into Latin and Greek terms, we have: Fibro- from the Latin word fibra, for fiber, Myo- the Greek prefix mys, for muscle, and Algia- the from the Greek word algos which means pain (1). In short, Fibromyalgia translates into muscle and fiber pain. .
             My next step was to go online and to check in our library here at Sherman College to find if there was any research done about the benefits with chiropractic care for patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I found out that there was not much research done directly relating to Chiropractic care for Fibromyalgia patients. .
             My search started out surfing on the big waves on internet I used First Search, Pub Med and Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics to locate research articles that were going to be useful for me writing this research paper. I also used the Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, the Merck Manual and a book that Steve's (our librarian) new assistant found sitting on a shelf. The name of that book was: Fibromyalgia Syndrome, A Practitioner's Guide to Treatment. .
             The keywords that I used were: Chiropractic, Chiropractic Adjustment, Fibromyalgia, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Spinal Manipulation, Manipulation and Adjustment. .
             Results:.
             The results that I found support my thoughts that more research has to be done regarding this subject. I found research that supported that Chiropractic care could relieve symptoms for patients with Fibromyalgia and also research that showed that Chiropractic care did not make any difference in the symptoms for patients with Fibromyalgia. I also found research that explained the difficulty to diagnose a person correctly with Fibromyalgia, which is one of the most important steps for doing valid research.
