Throughout my life, I have been involved in a wide variety of activities that have made me a stronger person both academically and socially. I have excelled in certain academic areas such as mathematics, languages, and physical education areas. I feel I can bring hard work ethic and strong academic abilities to the University of Michigan. .
It is truly fortunate that I grew up in a diverse city (Bloomfield Hills) where I went to Andover High School, a multicultural educational community. I am blessed to be able to interact and become friends with many people from diverse backgrounds. I have made friends that are Japanese, Palestinian, African-Americans, and many more. My parents were of different religions, mother is Catholic and father is Jewish. Brought up under the Jewish religion, I have had many different views of people and of events internationally (i.e. the bombings in Israel). I have attended many bar/bat mitzvahs but I have also attended confirmations of the Catholic religion. .
My community involvement includes attending C.O.T.S. (Coalition of Temporary Shelter- a homeless shelter in downtown Detroit). Since the age of seven, my father and I would prepare lunch twice a month on Sundays with the kitchen staff there. Then served them the food we prepared. It was a unique and rewarding experience.
All my life I have played a wide variety of sports and learned to understand the importance of respecting each individual player, while working together as a team. I have played on football, baseball, soccer, and hockey teams. In high school, I played a sport during every season since the fall of my freshman year. I played on the Andover football team, ice hockey and lacrosse on a combined team with Lahser and Andover students. I have played varsity hockey since I was a freshman, and played varsity football as a junior and senior year. I was also given the honor of being captain of the junior varsity lacrosse team as an 11th grader.
