Life is a simple matter of one's own point of view. One person may read the sentence "come over right now!" as conveying excitement and anxiety. Another may take it as a violent command. The simple variances in points of view account for much of the differences that separate one person from the next. Often people with similar, but not necessarily coinciding, points of view on a specific subject will stand together in opinion of that subject. One such subject, which has recently been the topic of many heated discussions, is based around the subject of abortion. It deals specifically with the question of whether or not a human fetus is indeed a human being. Before diving into this subject, however, some simple truths and facts must be laid out and discussed to establish a very specific point of view. These truths will establish that a human fetus must be regarded as a human being due to the simple fact that it will develop into one and that it is biologically identical to one. Also discussed will be the application of this knowledge to the issue of abortion and the major arguments of the opposition to this issue.
Can what will soon come into existence be considered to exist now? Not exactly, but it raises an interesting point. It may be dark tonight, but the sun will rise again tomorrow morning. The previous statement is generally accepted as a truth. If nothing is put into action to stop the sun from rising, it will rise. It is the universally accepted process of progression. If I do not die tonight, then I will be alive tomorrow; this is a simple fact. We all know this to be basic logic: if this, then that. Logical progression is a simple, fundamental fact of life with infinite applications.
Conversely, were someone to do something that would keep the sun from rising, the sun would not rise. Would we not say that this person kept the sun from the sky that day? Yes, we would.
