Also at the end of the fourth stanza the repetition of the last line has stopped. Not the six hundred', this has a shocking effect and it is not expected and brings attention. It had a rhythm. That line shows the outcome of the poem and that is they all die. This stanza is quite fast, it suddenly stops, and then it observes the casualties. In the fifth stanza, there is repetition cannons to right of them'. This is effective because it brings back the rhythm; also, it repeats the alliterations and uses onomatopoeic words such as thundered. Then the mood and the tone change, now it becomes a bit more pessimistic and it shows that the hero' died. .
             Back from the mouth of hell' and this shows that there was a lucky escape and it uses images such as death. At the end of the fifth stanza the tone completely changes, the stanza makes the audience realise the outcome of the battle and that was Death'. As we go to the last stanza, the imagery has changed completely in contrast with the beginning. In the last stanza, the dead are honoured and they are shown as glorious, even though they lost. In addition, it questions the decision and it shows that it was not very organised. They were seen as noble and it is like this because Victorians liked this kind of language.
             In the poem, the stanzas were between 6-12 lines. There were not any regular shapes. This was deliberately so lines stand out and this has an effect on the audience.
             The first few stanzas were quite small but then it gets large and descriptive. Then it goes small again. This was because the soldiers died, a small stanza suggests the tempo is slow, it gets peaceful and calm. The language used is very posh a grand. Tennyson makes us think if the deaths were not that bad and the mistakes were not that stupid. He honours the dead and he uses posh language to make the audience believe that the soldiers were patriotic. The poet's intention was that war was not that bad, he ensures that the soldiers died for a good cause and died in honour.
