The thrilling and magical story, "The Odyssey," written by Sophocles is an amazing and unforgettable tale. As each page of "The Odyssey," unfolds and amazing story is brought to life," The Odyssey," Is more then a book but a satire of perseverance. "The Odyssey," is a tale of a gallant man, Odysseus, and his dauntless crew who have only one whish, to return home. Ten years of war, and ten years of never-ending obstacles, and this heroic man must finally return home to claim what is rightfully his. The only way he can survive his adventures, though is through his resolute traits of craftiness, bravery, and strength. .
Throughout the story Odysseus proves his craftiness more then in one way. In the story Odysseus was faced with the difficult task of escaping from the Cyclops's cave with his crew, not only does he have to make the Cyclops vulnerable, but he also has to trick the Cyclops into letting him and his men out of the cave. Using his craftiness Odysseus and his crew first get the Cyclops under the influence of sweet wine, then work incessantly in shaping a stick to gouge out the Cyclops's eyeball. This plan keeps the Cyclops alive, knowing that he is their only ticket out of the dreadful cave. Odysseus's plan is successful, and his next dilemma is figuring out a way to escape from the cave now that the Cyclops is injured, just as planned the Cyclops opened the cave to let out his sheep, Odysseus of course already has studied the patterns of the Cyclops and predicted he would do so. The cave is opened and Odysseus and his crew escape under the bellies of the sheep, another crafty plan from Odysseys, the Cyclops is utterly clueless to the fact that his prisoners are escaping, until they are already gone. It is unlikely that any of Odysseys crew would have survived if it weren't for the pure craftiness of Odysseus. Odysseus who is faced with many dangers commonly uses his craftiness to successfully escape from the grip of hazard.
