In the book, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Francie acquires many traits from her mother, father, and some all her own. Like Francie, I also have acquired some traits from my mother, some from my father, and some traits are ones that I have developed all on my own.
Over the years I have acquired many admirable traits from my mother. One trait is that I am very meticulous. One example of this is when I am doing homework. Unlike many people I like to do the best job I possibly can and I don't give up easily when I come to a bump in the road. When I have a problem with something I drill it until I can do it in my sleep. Another trait I receive from my mother is that I am a good cook. Ever since I was young I was helping my mother in the kitchen. Like her I have a natural talent for cooking. This trait will help me when I go to college so I don't have to always order take out. Finally, a third trait I receive from my mother is that I am a hard worker. My mother has a saying, "If life were easy, everyone would be a millionaire." I take this saying and apply it to school in that I never do a half-hearted job. I believe that if you want to get something out of life, you have to work hard for it.
On the contrary, I get a lot of redeeming traits from my father too. One trait is that I am persistent. Ever since I was a toddler my father has pushed me to try hard and be the best you can be. I was persistent when I played baseball for seven years and even though I wasn't very good at it I stuck with it and got better and enjoyed the game more. Another trait I obtained from my father is good sportsmanship. One time I showed good sportsmanship was at the Elks Lodge baseball game. Even though the other team beat us I showed good sportsmanship by shaking hands with and complimenting the members of the other team.
While I have obtained many fine traits from my parents I also have some traits that are all my own.
