The Effects of Divorce

Not only has the divorce affected my parents; it has affected me as well. I still have to deal with my ex-husband on an almost daily basis, and our relationship is very strained. Our fighting causes extreme anxiety and sometimes puts a strain on my relationship with my son. It has also caused me to be depressed and not able to sleep. Another concern I have is I am not very patient with my son and I sometimes get angry with him for the smallest things. I know raising a child, working, and going to college has caused much stress for me. I am working very hard on controlling my anger, and learning to deal with my stress in a more positive way so that Bryce is not emotionally affected. I am trying to move in a positive direction as a parent and role model for my son and do what is best for him. This can be very overwhelming at times. I have recently started dating, and this has been a very confusing and overwhelming situation. My life is very hectic and combined with my school and work schedules, finding time to spend with someone other than my son can be difficult at best. I also worry about bringing someone into my son's life that may or may not be a permanent presence in the future. If I do find that special person, I worry that in forming long term personal relationships they will not provide the stable father figure needed by my son.
My divorce has caused financial problems that I cannot control. Money, or lack of it, has been a major problem. My ex-husband had to be forced by the courts to pay child support payments. I deal everyday with the guilt of not having enough money and time with my son and praying that I raise him to be well adjusted when he grows up. .

One of my main concerns about my divorce is not how it is going to affect me in the future, but how it is going to affect my son.
