Drug use among teenagers seems to be on the rise. Marijuana is almost ordinary among kids my age. Many of my friends have tried, or are involved with drugs and I never could understand why. Just like smoking cigarettes, it seems obvious that the effects of drugs are going to be bad and maybe even addicting. But despite all the alarming beliefs about it, it seems to be useful in some ways. .
Marijuana has had a relationship with mankind throughout history all over the world. Marijuana is considered to be the single most used drug in the Untied States. Marijuana is basically dried buds and leaves. Many people have unique names for this drug. For example, it's called, Astro Turf, Bud, Chunky, Endo, Ganja, Hay, Mary Jane, Maui Wauie and many other manes. It's the most recognizable plant in the world. It's a leaf with five to seven leaflets attached to the center, also know as the "bud". It contains more than 400 chemicals, the most common being THC. .
Every time a user smokes a marijuana cigarette, THC and other chemicals enter their body. The THC is considered to be the most powerful chemical, because it's what gives the user their "high". The most common ways of usage are: cigarettes (joints), cigars (blunts), pipes, bongs and food. For those who eat it, the "high" is much longer and more unique. .
Marijuana is sometimes described as a "soft drug" as opposed to "hard" drugs such as cocaine and heroin. This seems to be misleading. Marijuana is a poison like all other drugs. The amount you take determines how much it affects you. A small amount is a stimulant, it speeds you up. A larger amount is a sedative; it puts you to sleep. For example, caffeine is a drug. Two or three cups of coffee wake you up. If you had 10 to 20 cups it would probably put you to sleep. Marijuana users compare their experience to be a numb, mellow tingly feeling all over their body. They also claim they always get the "munchies".
