Of Mice and Men

Curley is uptight and jumpy, and hot headed. This is due to the insecurity in his size being to small and being to over protective of his wife. Even Curley is unhappy with himself and wants to change something for the better. He wouldn't mind being a little bigger in size and he would appreciate not chasing his wife all over the ranch. Curley couldn't avoid his terrible character by picking on Lennie. Like always Lennie did not do it on purpose. Lennie was guilty of being a big man, and Curley saw this as an opportunity to make himself look better and feel better about himself. Curley being a small man and Lennie a huge man, it would look brave and courageous that Curley could take on Lennie. But if Lennie would beat up on Curley then Lennie would look like a bully and Curley would be felt sorry for. .

Lennie was in shocked and froze there not wanting to break the dream by doing something wrong. Lennie only defended himself after George scream out that it was ok to defend and hit back. This proves that Lennie was conscious about the dream and didn't want to make any wrong move to not fulfill there dream. Fortunately Curley only suffered a sever hand injury at the hands of Lennie. Curley knew that it was wrong what he did so he did not tell anyone and the rest of the farmers convince that maybe it would be best that he suffered that injury by getting his hand stuff in one of the machines in the farm. This incident almost cause George and Lennie there dream and it serves as a reminder that it doesn't really have to be them looking for trouble but trouble may come looking for them. .
