Dance

Expressing my emotions while dancing to the beat of the music has had much impact in molding me into the person I am today. The opportunity of being able to dance has taught me that, to live life to the fullest, one must have discipline. Five, six, seven, eight are four words that my ears have heard for many years. Ever since I was the young age of three, I started to explore the wonderful world of dance. As a toddler, I learned the very basics of ballet, which helped me acquire the true meaning of discipline. It is the ability to control oneself in a chaotic atmosphere. Having to follow an instructor from such a young age enabled me to take commands easier when I achieved maturity. Around my elementary school years, I started to explore the many other branches of entertainment. I began tap and jazz classes, which are two very fast-moving areas of creative dance. Banging those metal plates against a hard wooden floor and leaping high in the air seemed as if I were born with the ability to entertain people. Showing off with my tap and jazz skills seemed to supercede my ballet technique on the dance floor. Discipline also came from the routine practices every week that seemed more enjoyable than playing with my Barbies. The adrenaline rush that pulsates through my veins right before the curtain rises does not stop until the applause of the audience is over. The feeling of being on stage performing for people is incredibly overwhelming. Having learned discipline through such an enjoyable experience was one of the best lessons life has to offer.
