Magna Carta

The Magna Carta and Its Effects on English Kings, Nobles, the Common Man of That Time, and on Modern Governments and Rights.
King John was a very powerful, cruel, and unreasonable ruler. The Magna Carta was a set of limitations that King John's nobles forced him to sign on one of their rebellious acts. The Magna Carta had many effects on English Kings, Nobles, and the common man; and it also played a role in governments and laws later to come.
When King John signed the Magna Carta, he set limitations on himself and all other English Kings to follow. Kings had to treat everyone fairly and righteously and stop taking land and money from their vassals". In addition, the King could no longer raise taxes any time he felt like he needed more money. The "common council of the kingdom" must agree upon tax raises.
By the signing of the Magna Carta, Nobles had received many rights and privileges because of the limitations of the king. Rights that were currently designated to Nobles were secured and protected. In addition, land and money was safe from being taken away because of the word of the king. Next, Nobles had the peace of mind that they could not be charged with a crime or imprisoned without "the legal judgment of his peers or by the law of the land." Many other rights and privileges of the Nobles were protected and various others were given by the approval of the Magna Carta.
The common man received a great deal of protection and rights because of the Magna Carta. Immediately after this document was agreed upon, the common man did not receive many rights and privileges. It is after a few years that modification to laws formed by the document that the ordinary person was granted certain rights and privileges. Trial by jury, a representative government, and "no taxation without representation" were all derived from the Magna Carta. There were many more rights given to common man after some years of adjustments were made.
