Television was introduced to me at about the age of one. From my early childhood stages I could remember watching programs such as Sesame Street and Romper Room. At around the age of six years old I totally recall the cartoon He-Man. That was one of my favorite programs growing up. Also, I was into the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Through my pre-teen years programs that I can flash on include Family Matters, Saved by the Bell, Full House, The Simpsons and the WWF. Moving on too my teen years I reminisce on shows such as Beverly Hills 90210 and the Family Guy. .
My parents and babysitters treated television as a necessity. To them it was a way of keeping me occupied. When I was a child, cartoons and shows I was introduced to were all good in their eyes. Whereas, today some shows and even cartoons are not suitable for children. However in my case there was never a doubt in their mind that the shows they let me watch would be too harsh or evil that I should not watch them. .
Television influenced me while I was a younger child because I was more curious and easily influenced. I tended to repeat and mimic what I heard and saw on television without knowing if it was right or wrong. Furthermore the programs that influenced me must have been good because my guardians controlled what I watched. Without parental supervision I would have watched probably something that pleased me more, and that would have been where the problem lied. .
To my recoglition there has been several peak experiences in my life. A few that come right to mind include, the death of Princess Diana, The Oklahoma City Bombing, and Hurricane Andrews. I recall that hurricane one of the most devastating hurricanes to this day. One peak experience that I vaguely remember but know it made an impact was the earthquake that took place during the nineteen eighty-eight world series in California. Furthermore, the one that stands out dramatically with out question I feel is the attack of September 11th.
