How Does Shakespeare explore the growth of evil in Macbeth?


When Macbeth and Banquo come across the witches they reveal Macbeth's future to him:.
             "All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor.".
             "All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter.".
             This sets off a train of thought in Macbeth's head, as he has been told that he will become king. Banquo is wary of the witches and tries to warn.
             Macbeth.
             Shakespeare uses the device of an aside to reveal Macbeth's feelings. This speech shows the beginning of evil in Macbeth. He reveals that.
             The thought of murdering Duncan in order to become king himself has crossed his mind, and at first he almost seems scared of this thought. This thought basically sets the evil rolling in his mind. .
             The thought of him becoming king overtakes Macbeth's mind, and soon he finds himself obsessed with the image of killing Duncan. By this time Lady Macbeth seems to be the spurring force behind Macbeth's emotions. She is always seen to be encouraging Macbeth to kill the king. When the king comes to visit them, lady Macbeth spots the opportunity open and almost forces Macbeth to commit the crime. This makes the audience think that she is all evil.
             When the king enters the Macbeth's household, they greet him as friends, with warmth and hospitality. This is a deceitful trick, as the audience knows they are plotting to kill the king. At this point Lady Macbeth seems to be much more evil than Macbeth, as she is the one planning the murder, where as Macbeth is simply going along with it against his will. There is a long soliloquy in scene 7, of Macbeth's doubts and fears of the plan. This shows the audience that Macbeth is perhaps not evil at all, just driven by ambition to do the deed. Lady Macbeth becomes even more evil when Macbeth reveals his thoughts to her. She uses demoralising language to convince Macbeth to murder the king.
             Macbeth is finally persuaded to commit murder. He sets off to kill King Duncan while he is sleeping in his chamber.
