Two words seem to mean the same thing, justice and vengeance, but in reality mean completely different things. Does love exist in vengeance? Does anger exist in justice? In today's society should we seek out vengeance or should we seek out justice? .
According to Webster's Dictionary, justice is defined as "the administering of deserved punishment or reward; the administration of what is just according to law," while vengeance is defined as "the infliction of injury, harm, or humiliation in return for an injury or offense." The difference between these two actions is that when one administers justice, one does this according to the law. However, with vengeance, one takes the law into their own hands and anger controls ones actions rather than then the love that controls the way one seeks justice.
For example, when someone starts a rumor about someone and a person knows who started the rumor, that person can pick from two options. The person could be just, go and talk to the person about it and ask them to stop, which would probably end the situation, but if that does not work that person should bring a friend with them and talk to them again. That would be the just thing to do. Another option would be to seek revenge on them and start a rumor about them. If the person chooses to seek revenge, nothing will change, now they have just lowered oneself to the other person's level and started a war between the two of them because now they will want to seek back revenge and it could go on forever. At least until one of them is man or woman enough to step up to the plate and put a stop to this madness.
Another example would involve a kleptomaniac. If one was an owner of a clothing store and someone walked into the store and one noticed that the person was placing clothing into their bag one would again have two options. The just thing to do would be to turn them in to the police so that they would be prosecuted according to the law.
