In what way do the opening lines of Waiting for Godot prepar

Vladimir then admits that he's "beginning to come round to that opinion" . That opinion meaning that he has nothing left to live for. All his life he has been in the same dead-end situation, but his is now ready to admit that there is nothing else left for him to do and that his life is pointless. This opinion of themselves eventually leads them both to contemplating suicide at the end of both acts of the play. This first line tells the spectator that he has already given up and so the play will see him fall deeper into his despair.
Vladimir continues by saying "All my life [ ] you haven't yet tried everything" . Vladimir believes that he had not done everything there is do in life. This is another side to him, as at first he believes that he has nothing left to do but then he starts to think that maybe he should try something else. Yet the only action that happens in the play is the dialogue between Vladimir and Estragon or the occasional outburst. Vladimir wants to try new things but he still settles into the same routine both days of waiting and talking.
"They have nothing else to do. Turning that nothing into something is their business, and they work at it throughout the two acts of the play with little help except from their own wit and each other" .
They are in a continual struggle against each other, as this is the only thing that can keep them occupied.
The next part of Vladimir's speech "And I resumed the struggle" , shows a turn back again for Vladimir, as he once again resigns himself to the inevitable. Vladimir is decided that he will continue to do the same thins over and over, each day. This jumping back and forth between the two opposites of nothingness and the hope of something to do is continued throughout the play. The two characters find themselves going round in circles, but always eventually coming back to the same point, that of nothing to do.
The end of Vladimir's speech is concluded by him commenting, "so there you are again" .
