With the new system people could still play the games for the original Playstation system plus play games with better graphics and more enhancements for the new Playstation II system. People were also able to use this new system to play music cds, play DVD movies, and have the ability to connect to the Internet to play other people with the same system. Having the ability to use the system for multi-function purposes made consumers purchase a PlayStation II just for the convenience and cost savings of having 3 systems in one.
After the introduction of PlayStation other game systems using cds starting popping up. Ninetendo, one of the original manufactures of home game system using cartridges, introduced Game Cube. Ninetendo had more input towards the younger generations of game heads than anyone else in the market. Their games had more characters like PacMan, Donkey Kong, Mario Brothers, and several Saturday morning cartoon characters. The Game Cube was made to have the ability to be played by one to four people. Game Cube became a system in demand by families with several children. By being able to have multiple players a lot of tension from other kids was relieved as well, no longer did you have to wait for what seemed like forever before it was your turn to play. Ninetendo also introduced a new portable hand held system for 1 player that also had some of the same games as the bigger system called Game Boy. Game Boy has many games available some just for the Game Boy series and some the same as for Game Cube. With the competition of better systems being developed Ninetendo introduced a new and more improved hand held called Game Boy Advanced. This system is in color and has a larger screen that is better visible to the player. Along with the introduction of this new handheld system came more features. By purchasing a cable players are able to connect to another Game Boy Advanced and play each other.
