Entertainment is a rapid growing media. From television to radio and to the big scream, movies. For many of years there has always been a fascination with movies. Years ago, whenever an individual wanted to watch a movie they would drive down to the drive in movie theater, sit in their car, and watch. Now a days, you watch a movie in a movie theater cinema. It is almost impossible not to find a movie theater close by to your house. Many companies such as Famous Players has expanded and has locations all over Canada. In order to make a good movie you have to have a genre. Ever since the beginning of films, movies have always come in different genres. They expand from romance, action and comedy, to just name a few. However, some movie writers have crossed over and created movies using more than one genre.
When films were first introduced, they were based upon one genre, one meaning. An example of a movie that was created a few years that used only one specific genre was Titanic. Based on the Historical event of the drowning of the Titanic. The story revolves around the love affair of Rose and Jack. Rose is prepared to get married until she meets Jack upon the ship. They fall in love and even though Jack dies in the end, Rose keeps her heart for him. Clearly, this movie is romance. Although some people might argue the point that Titanic was also a drama or an action film, the writers many story and idea was the love affair between Jack and Rose.
Today, what seems to be the most popular catch in the movie industry is creating a movie in which it's main story line carries out two or more genres. I believe that writers have started to create movies using this method due to the fact of the change in society. Our personal tastes in movies have changed as well as our attention spans. So in order to keep us at the edge of our seats, laughing, crying, or terrified, writers had to change their style, or methods of writing.
