I read the book "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.
The Main characters in this book are Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise. The book takes place in 1947 and goes through 3 years to 1950. Sal is a writer and Dean just got out of jail when the story starts , neither of the men have much money or have rich families so they usually have no money, but they travel throughout the entire story either hitchhiking or try to buy a junk car.
The story is told by Sal, so it is not always pointed out very good when the do stuff they shouldn't, like drugs and sleep with women they barely know. But they feel that they have to experience everything , they travel to Denver, Mexico, San Francisco, New Orleans and many little towns along the way. The meet many different people along their trips and most of them even though they maybe interesting people they all have problems , like drugs, one women has a husband who beats her , or like Dean they have been in jail. .
Dean gets married 3 or 4 times during this story and Sal is just fascinated by all the people they meet on their travels. This story sometimes was hard to follow Sal is a writer and in the book he uses lots of word to describe things he sees and hears, so it makes those parts kind of boring , I liked Dean even though he isn't really the best person, he tried to enjoy every minute they had when traveling and he wouldn't care if he had to con someone to get it .They did steal from people money and cars , but in the book you understand they are both from poor families and they kind of feel like they deserve it. .
I would recommend this book only because of the cool people that Sal and Dean meet like ,Remi an old friend of Sals, he is French and he steals , but is funny. Old Bull Lee is an old friend of Sals , he is a junkie but he is also a writer and teaches Sal many things. Denver a guy who says good morning when its night is funny too. Some of the people are sad too they waitress whose husband beats her the women Sal kind of likes but she has problems.
