Should Gays Be Discriminated Against?.
A long time ago, a group of great political leaders came together to sign the constitution. The Constitution signified the rights of each human being who lives in the United States of America. Even though it doesn't say anything in the constitution about differences among people, it should be accepted among everyone. Why you might ask should we accept differences among people? We should accept people's differences whether it is from the color of their skin to their sexuality because if everyone was the same, this world would be so boring. The whole idea of differences among people is what we call the "Melting Pot." .
Why are we, the gays always discriminated against and hated? .
We believe this because people are afraid of the differences among us. Why can't we be classified as people that are just like you? When you really think about it, we are just like you. The only difference is our sexuality. Should that factor determine our position in society? Shouldn't we be recognized as people in the Melting Pot too? We are just like people who have different skin color and have different nationalities, but the Census doesn't really pay much attention to "domestic partners" at least not nearly as much as everyone else. The 2000 census was the first time we were truly recognized. According to the 2000 census, there are over one million homosexuals in America. There is also 3,850,524 heterosexual unmarried couples in America.
The only event that recognizes us is during the month of October which is Gay and Lesbian history month. Not many people are aware that there is such a month that celebrates this. This month commemorates the anniversaries of the first two gay and lesbian marches in Washington.
Why should there be so many different damaging stereotypes that are associated with being gay or lesbian? Some names that are associated with being a gay man are that we are characterized as child molesters and sexual predators.
