Modern Day Corn-Pone Opinions

I agree with Mark Twain to some extent. I feel that with the passing of time Mark Twain's Corn Pone Opinions has been mildly outdated but is still very relevant to us today. Mark Twain believed that corn pone stood for self-approval and conformity.
It is really easy to be a conformist. The majority of the people won't make fun of or tease you. You feel like the others around you approve of you. If you"re sitting in a classroom of twenty students and the new fall fashion is wearing black sweaters and everybody is wearing one, and you"re wearing a neon green t-shirt, you might feel extremely self- conscious and that make effect the way you perform in the classroom.
I believe that Catholics are Catholics, Mormons are Mormons, and thieves are thieves because that lifestyle appeals to them and that's what they believe in. Mark Twain believed that you were born and brought up as one or another.
I feel that people who avoid the so- called in-crowd and latest trends are looked upon. I don't think that there are many people that are truly different. For example, if you ask all the gothic people in our school why they wear all black or dark clothing, why they listen to the music they listen to, why they wear certain make up (both guys and girls). I think that only a small portion could truly answer that question. I think that more people are conformists than leaders. I think being a leader takes a certain kind of person.
I feel that Mark Twain made some great points. I think he was a leader to some extent. He was an extremely educated man, and he was a great observer.
