Good morning students and welcome to America! You ask what an American is? You are not the only person who has questioned this, it is something complicated to understand, it is not something clear to visualize, it is something you must feel.
You might think that an American is just a person who lives in America and has gotten use of its customs and beliefs. No, it is much more than that! There is a bond -a connection- that units us all from our differences. America is one big mixture of Asians, Hispanics, Africans and Europeans that come all together and become one strong nation.
Me, I stand as an immigrant, like many others, and for me America is a place full of opportunities to succeed. This is a reason why so many people come to America, to take advantage of its prospects and to accomplish things that could not be done in their country. If I were to describe America in one word it would be FREEDOM. This is what makes America so unique and so special. That is why the English came here and settled, to be free, to be able to practice the religion they wished, to have the job they chose and have a government that would be beneficial to everyone. As you see America cares about its people, America looks after everyone and leaves no one behind. America doesn't care what your color is, America still gives you the same opportunities as everybody else. That is why I am proud to be an American citizen and one day I will join their Air Force, to represent a hard working America that has done so much for me and my people.
But if course this is my view of America, these are my true feelings, but they are feelings that all America has, this proud ness is what makes America so united. So what exactly is an American? You will feel that answer every time you look at the United States flag, every time you look at our eagle that represents freedom and you will find it in every American's heart.
